bankedright.com / Tier 03 · The Wall

Real US bank accounts, without a US passport.

Chase, Bank of America, Amex. Not another fintech that can vanish overnight. The pieces are public: ITIN, LLC, EIN, address. The order is not, and collecting them out of sequence sabotages the next step.

You’ve hit the wall if

The rejection

An application denied with no reason given, and now you’ve heard the system remembers rejections. Every DIY retry is gambling with a permanent file.

The stall

Stuck at a substance ask: prove an address you don’t have, show a history you can’t show yet, provide a document that’s gated on another document.

The wrong order

You got an LLC before the ITIN, or applied for accounts before either, and now the next step is harder than it should be.

The stale forums

Reddit threads from two years ago, half the methods dead, nobody accountable for whether any of it still works.

I'm currently hiring a guy to help me open up a business bank account. I didn't even know that was something you needed education on — I thought you would walk into a bank and say: hello, I would like a business bank account. That's what I've done, and I've been doing a bad thing. Someone else has made the mistakes. The time and the money you pay is paying for avoiding all of those.

The fix

The sequence, done right

Step 1

Map your starting position

Passport, residency, entity status, revenue, where clients pay from. Your sequence depends on all of it. There is no universal checklist, which is why checklists keep failing you.

Step 2

Collect in order

ITIN first when it gates everything else. Entity and EIN structured for banking, not just formation. Documents prepared the way each specific bank wants them, before you walk in.

Step 3

Open with certainty

Which banks, which branches, what to bring, what to say, and which steps genuinely need you in the US. Done on my own money first, then for clients from solo LLCs to $200K/mo agencies.

Steal this

The sequence, in the open. Free.

The pieces really are public. Here they are, in the order that works. What you’re paying for, if you ever pay us, is execution without the coin-flip: the per-bank preparation, the traps, and someone accountable.

  1. 1

    ITIN before accounts

With no SSN, the ITIN is the piece that gates personal banking and US credit. Founders who skip it hit walls that look like rejections but are really sequencing errors. Read the full sequencing mistake →

  2. 2

Entity and EIN structured for banking

An LLC formed for $99 online and an LLC structured for bank approval are different animals. Registered agent address, banking address and operating agreement all get read differently by a bank than by a formation service.

  3. 3

Documents prepped per bank, before you walk in

Passport, proof of address, EIN letter, formation documents, prepared the way each specific bank wants them. Walking in unprepared converts a yes into a file note.

  4. 4

One planned trip beats five remote attempts

Chartered banks still want a face. A single US trip with the right branches mapped opens more doors than months of remote applications.

  5. 5

    Never burn an application

US banks share consumer reports (ChexSystems and peers). A rejection is written into a file you never get to read. Sequence first, apply once.

Straight answers

Can this be done fully remotely?

Parts of it, yes: ITIN, entity, EIN, and some account types. The strongest setups include one planned US trip for in-person openings at chartered banks. We tell you exactly which steps need your body and which don’t.

I was already rejected once. Am I marked?

Rejections leave traces, but a rejection with the wrong preparation says something different to a bank than a rejection after a correct sequence. We’ve opened accounts for founders with prior rejections. The path just gets narrower, which makes the order matter more.

Which banks do you work with?

Chartered institutions: Chase, Bank of America and peers, plus Amex on the credit side. We are not partnered with or paid by any of them, which is why we can pick whatever is right for your file.

Can a non-US resident open a US business bank account?

Yes. Non-residents open real accounts at Chase, Bank of America and peers regularly, when the pieces, ITIN, entity, EIN, address, arrive in the right order. The pieces are public. The order is what turns a coin-flip into a formality.

Do I need an ITIN before opening US accounts?

Usually, yes, when you have no SSN. The ITIN is the piece that gates personal banking and US credit, and founders who try to skip it hit walls that look like rejections but are really sequencing errors. Map your starting position first: the exact order depends on your passport, residency and entity status.

Will applying and getting rejected hurt future applications?

It can. US banks share consumer reports through ChexSystems and similar networks, and a rejection is written into a file you never get to see. That’s why the rule is sequence first, apply once, instead of testing your luck at multiple branches and hoping one says yes.

Your life doesn’t fit banking’s boxes. Stop paying for that with fragility.

Real banks. Correct sequence. Redundancy by design. The founders who sleep well are the ones an algorithm can’t switch off.
